LuminoxLuminox, meaning “light night” in Latin, developed its ultra-luminescent series of dive watches at the behest of Chief Petty Officer Nick North, then with SEAL Team FIVE. It was 1993, and the Chief was anxious to find a suitable timepiece for night-time, underwater missions. Luminox delivered . . . so successfully, in fact, that its timepieces caught the attention of Air Force bomber pilots, for whom the company eventually developed its own line of watches.
